air suspension

Find a new shop. The trouble shooting the air suspension is easy.
One hillbilly rig technique is T an air fitting. Apply 100 lbs to strut. If car raises and stays up it is the air controller in trunk, ride height adjuster, or compressor. If it does not come up, or drops back down it is the strut.
Do this with the car off and battery disconnected. My front end ship has made a gizmo to do this. Screws in the top of the strut.
You mention the first strut exploded. Maybe the relay is welded closed.

Frankly, without a lot more detail on what happened anything I say will be speculation.
It seems from the very short description of the problem that the air spring bladder on one of the front air springs let go suddennly and gave an impression of an explosion. Whilst a rare event, this can happen and is usually easy albeit expensive to fix. Yes, there is a lot of air pressure in that air spring and when working the pressures can be very high. However other damage could have been caused so if t he shop doesn't have the IT equipment to allow a suspension check, (fault codes) and calibration (height), to be carried out then the problem will never be bottomed.
What fault codes are there for this ? Is the new strut a like-for-like replacement ?

Hi dorisriley555,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums.
It sounds as though you need to find a more qualified shop to repair your Jaguar. As Panelhead says, troubleshooting the air suspension is not usually too difficult with the right knowledge and equipment. For a basic explanation of the system, see this post:
Air Suspension & ECATS System Summary: Components & Operation
As Fraser says, it would help us to have more information. For example, when you say that your car will not stay up, do you mean that it never raises to its correct ride height, or it does raise but then drops down, either while driving or after sitting overnight?
If the car raises to the correct ride height and remains there while driving, but drops overnight, then there is probably an air leak. One of the most common causes of a leak is overtightening the air hose fitting on top of the air spring/shock absorber unit (what you called a strut). You can test for a leak by starting the engine so the air compressor will run to charge the suspension, then spritz soapy water on the air hose fitting and watch for bubbles, which indicate a leak.
Cheers,
Don

Hi dorisriley555,
It's great to hear from you after three years of no updates to your previous issue. Can you please tell us how your previous problem was resolved?
My first guess regarding your current complaint is that your car is in "Jacking Mode," and just needs to be driven above 2 mph to restore the function of the air suspension.
But please do tell us how the issue you were dealing with three years ago was resolved. You left us hanging!
Cheers,
Don
