Air suspension
Hi there guys I have had my jaguar premium sport in a jag bilston independent jag specialist or so they say...suspension dropped on front of my car fitted a brand new compressor suspension still wouldn't raise...fitted a new ECU behind back seat still wouldnt raise...fitted a new valve block in boot still will not raise..also had 2 visits from an auto electrician no joy there...rang to to be told may need new leg or legs....they know about sleep modes jacking mode and all the other things...where do I stand with telling them to take new parts off and put old ones back on as none of the above have worked with labour costs it's in 4 figures

Hi Shaun,
You have every reason to be upset, but you can help us help you by taking a little more time to compose your posts with proper capitalization and punctuation and a line break once in awhile to make your text easier to read and understand. OK, I'll get off my moderator soapbox now.
The most common cause of the front end not rising is a leak in one or both front air springs. If I understand your account, the shop has not reported that they tested both air springs for leaks. Have they done this, and if so, do both air springs hold air?
What suspension-related diagnostic trouble codes were present when the shop scanned the vehicle?
Forgive me for not knowing the term "leg or legs" as it applies to automobiles. Do you mean air spring/damper assemblies?
Cheers,
Don

I'm just as upset (Not with you Don )
As this appears to be a professional repair (jag specialist or not), and is not repaired according to you, certainly you have rights. Look up "UK consumer guarantee" or something, it varies by country.
If you did not have a quote for the job...who knows (as long as it is fixed). You need to take it up with the company. Intuition suggests you might like to calm down a bit before tackling them. Of course, I would be as upset as you are.
Although the idea in engaging a professional is to have it fixed with little knowledge oneself, you might need to gain some in order to tackle them. This forum is full of air suspension stuff, including in the sticky's.
"Legs" appears to mean the air suspension springs, one for each wheel, which as far as I know would be the FIRST thing to suspect.

Sounds like the 'Specialist' hasn't got, or doesn't know how to use, a fault code reader; in either case it doesn't seem to speak well of their knowledge of later (ie 21st Century) Jags.
Fault codes are the first thing that should be looked at; the whole idea of them is to avoid the 'try this', 'then try that', 'now try something else' approach to fault finding.

Mind you, aside from this apparently being a stuff-up, I imagine a "professional air suspension fix" could easily reach 4 figures (£1000). Couldn't it?
Hell, I spent $NZ700 (£300?) just on some professional waterworks (coolant tank & stuff), and most of it was the (marked-up) cost of parts.
(coolant branch hose $239, coolant expansion tank $265, this stuff adds up real quick and such is the life of a Jaguar owner )
