air suspension conversion?

From the info on the above pdf in post 7 I went to britishparts.com and entered the kit ASC.KIT.XJ8.
I can add it to my cart for $2100 (30% off market price of $3000). Now I am then supposed to fill in my account details, but company name is not mandatory, and there is no request for "business info". Now that may come on the next page, but it is pretty rare that a website puts up its prices for everyone to see but does not allow you to buy from them. My guess is that you could just fill it in and they'd sell it to you.......maybe there wording to sell only to repair shops is to cover them legally if you screw up the installation!
Bottom line is that if I went to a place to have this installed, I would expect to pay only $2100 for the kit + installation.

Conundrum for sure

How many 7 yrs plus XJs with over 100,000 miles can absorb a $3,000 to $5,000 plus service bill. Of course, there are always the "labor of love" exceptions but not enough to keep a lot of the older examples out of the scrap yard. Owners with late model low mileage 350s might be well served to install the kit but all others will have a dreadful calculation to make.
I agree, of course it is not just a suspension system, but the obvious other big ticket hits like tranny/ engine failiure.
I think this is one of the main reasons when these cars get a few years on them and are out of wtty the used prices take such a hit and flip flop from being the flagship price to the entry model price.
BMW is really noticeable in that 3 and 5 and 7 series totally reverse their price positions relative to each other after @4 years old.

I think the reason this suspension issue garners so much attention is that the engine and transmission on these cars are its strong suit. Both are as reliable as can reasonably be expected. Were it not for this air suspension FU, I think we would see a lot of 200K mile plus 350s still in service in a few years.
Relative to how the suspension kit would fool the computer into thinking everything is nominal, it could be that the wheel position sensors are mechanically disconnected and lashed in "safe" position. Maybe even disconnected altogether. Just a guess.
One issue we don't hear too much about is how Jag left its owners hanging on this air suspension FU. By trying to pass the problem off as a normal ware issue and not covering it under "select edition" warranty or doing a recall/retrofit they, in effect, gave us all the finger. Maybe they don't want a bunch of old Jags running around.

2006 xj8 air suspension
hey guys, I'm new to the group with a 2006 xj8 i purchased a week ago.
while i was at a stop waiting to cross a highway my vehicle was sitting with the front end higher then the rear end because the road was inclined. While stopped in the described position the vehicle too low warning came on. as soon as i pulled off it went right off. is this something that i should consider looking for issues with the air suspension over?
