Talking Air Suspension Fault

Hi Everybody
Ok next issue
Funny how at dealer this Biotch behaved very well. After a weekend its having issues lol
SO my fault light comes on maybe every three trips I make out to the store or office. After car sits a couple hours or so it doesnt come on again till about 3 more start ups. I can see the car looks even and feels ok.
I have ordered a relay because you recommend this 1st but hey is anything ever this easy?
What else should I be looking for?

Hi ttodd,

I don't know who recommended you replace the relay first but we don't encourage blindly replacing parts, since that can become very expensive very quickly without resolving the issue. There are many diagnostic steps you can take, all of them outlined in various threads on this forum. It's easy enough to test the relay for proper operation (and if you hear the air compressor running, the relay is operating at least some of the time).

Probably the most helpful step would be to have the modules scanned for any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). A normal OBDII scanner can read the P (Powertrain) codes, but to diagnose suspension problems requires a system capable of reading the proprietary Jaguar C (Chassis), B (Body) and U (Undefined, mostly network-related) codes. Either a dealer or properly-equipped independent shop can scan these codes, or you might consider investing in something like the iCarsoft i930 Jaguar scanner.

If you will carefully record all stored codes, including the initial letter, please report them here and we'll try to help. The codes will be in a form such as C2302.

Cheers,

Don

And, in fact, C2302 is very common and normally indicates the compressor is getting a bit tired. The part that gets tired is the piston seal. A member of this forum makes them in his workshop and sells them for a small price. Of course this is for those good at auto-DIY. Alternative is to replace the compressor with new or service exchange. From my own experience, the early compressors had seals that didn't last long, because mine failed at 35k miles and the replacement is still on the car at 108k. No doubt it is about to fail on me !!
