Default Air Suspension issue - Front strut leak

Hi,

I have a 2004 Vanden Plas that have been getting the air suspension failure message intermittently for over a year now. I didn’t have an OBDII scanner that can read the Jaguar suspension codes until recently. I was wanting to find one that will work with 4 different brands of cars and does not cost a bundle. Recently the forum member Clivee mentioned the Thinkcar scanner, so I looked it up and ended buying the Thinkcar Pro which works on almost any brand of cars for $38. It is a bluetooth dongle and a mobile app. It is available on Amazon for ~$78, but I bought mine from dhgat.com. I figured for this price, I’ll take the gamble. It did not come with any documentation, but I was able to figure things out and more importantly, it worked on all my cars (Jaguar, Mercedes, Volvo and VW). I haven’t used all its functions yet, but I have already got more than $38 worth from being able to read all system codes, clear them, read live stream data, record and play it back or save it to file.

Back to the suspension issue. I read the codes C2303 and C2302. I resolved the C2303 with the Bagpipingandy compressor repair kit. It has been 3 weeks now and the code C2303 did not come back. That’s not the case with the C2302. For the past couple months, the car would go down from the front over night, but will rise immediately when I unlock it in the morning. The compressor will start as I reach 25mph and will run for about a minute, and every so often, it will run again for a little bit. This morning the car attempted to rise, but then I heard the hissing sound from the left front strut and the car stayed down, displayed the “Too Low” message and triggered the C2302 code as well. I haven't done any more investigation, but I am assuming the left front strut is leaking and will need to be replaced. Those were the exact symptoms with the right strut which was replaced with an Arnott AS-2888 in March 2019, and the rear right strut was replaced in August 2020 with a used original one that came out of a Low mileage 2004 XJ8.

I have decided to stick with the air suspension, and wondering if anyone on this forum has a low miles front Arnott strut AS-2888 that would like to sell. If so, please PM me.

Thanks.

My rear went bad over the summer and the obvious clue was hissing air.

Where are you located? Another member on this forum nrar Raleigh sold me a used replacement. Rock Auto also has rebuilt ones for a not too horrible cost

I am located in Concord CA. Rockauto has the new struts for $460, which what I'll end up buying if I don't find a good used one.

Great, thanks. I see two related posts already. Been on this forum for years and never noticed the marketplace section.
