Default Air suspension questions

Hello. I'd like to know a little about the suspension operation. Am I mistaken, or does it lower itself a few minutes after the car is turned off? Does the fact that it pumps itself up each morning mean that the bladders are failing? Also, is the system after ONLY when the car is running, or simply when the key is on? Many thanks.

I can tell you what my 04 has done since I've had it almost 7 years. It has always lowered shortly after shutting the engine off. I will hear a hissing sound when it happens. It will rise again after staring the engine. No error codes and drives normal.

That's normal operation; the same thing happened on my Lincoln. It's a self-leveling system, so when you stop the car and get out it is now lighter and sitting a little higher, so it has to let out air to level the car.

Which sensor does the system use to determine level.
