Air Suspension Shock Tester For Leaks For Loan
#41
After weeks of searching does anyone know the size of the thread of the fittings that go into the front struts?
Plenty of them for sale but I'm trying to build a set of these guages but my cars in the shop and no access
From what I've read the air lines are 6 mm but can't find out what the thread is on the strut fittings?

The brass fittings are made by Voss and are not cheap.
Bagpiping Andy sells them.

M10 Air Connector Brass Fittings For Jaguar XJ-Series XJ8 XJR Vanden Plas Super V8 2004-2009 Front Suspension Air Line Hose
$0.90 each, minimum qty one.
Postage was more than the $9.00 for ten fittings, but even so, the whole lot still only cost US$ 20.75, all-up.
Tata/JLR do have a joint venture producing their motorcars IN China, so, it was not surprising CNC machine-tools are making yet-another part locally, not shipping them in from Germany.
Volume cost is probably about forty cents? Then again, Voss is part of the scheme wherein Germany is still levying fees on the Allies...... for wartime damage to their infrastructure. TANSTAAFL.

Aye, genuine Voss, ex Germany, were cheaper than most of the US-market online prices. Until... one figured minimums and export/import. costs.
The Chinese vendor has a LOT of air-suspension stuff, and for all major adopters of it - the scarcer-yet minimum-pressure hold-back valves included.
Voss branded or no, they are still but ignorant PLUMBING fittings, so ....
...it was worth the ~ 15/16 day wait from online order to physical receipt via Globalpost with periodic updates, and no real hassle as to customs clearing, either.
Irony of ironies? My extended HKG Chinese family? No help atall! Are now, or have retired from, executive slots at mostly US or UK firms!
****, DEC, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, ATT, Baker-McKenzie ...Cable & Wireless/HK Telecom, HKG uni, HKG Gov and the HK Airport Authority!
