Air Valve o-rings (air suspension control valve block)
Hello all.
I had an air suspension issue after having some control arms replaced - one cornor was permanately inflated which was affecting the handling. A copuple of garages thought they could recalibrate the suspension but, it turned out, couldnt. I've found someone able to recalibrate my air suspension nearby but they are busy for the next few weeks. so ive just been trying to make the suspension 'level' as instructed by the last garage, by inflating all corners, removing the relay in the fuse box under the bonnet and then deflating each corner manually by unscrewing the air valves in the boot. this seemed to be working until i realised one of the o-rings on the valve had disintegrated. I bought some o-rings from Halfords (a mistake?) and set about replacing all the o-rings on the 4 valves. This hasnt gone at all well and each time i tighten the valve the new o-rings split and leaks air.
are the o-rings that seal the air valves to the valve block a certain 'type'?
I know nothing on the finer points of o-ring useage so what seemed like a simple task has failed and has had me reaching for wine...
cheers, N

thanks for your reply Meirion. I think possibly a mix of wrong size and over tightening. The car is booked in to get the suspension recalibrated next week so i mentioned the o-rings to the mechanic so he's going to sort them out for me. My back has had enough of bending over the boot of the car...
