Air Vent Removal

I need to repair my Drivers (LHD) outer Air Vent. I have the chromed slider that directs the vent but it has become disconnected from the vanes. Possibly, I just need to be able to get in behind it and glue it back into place?
Lads and Lasses, surely it cannot be this simple:
?
(Can I just say, That as a direct result of the fantastic help I have received with far more REAL problems on this excellent forum, I am delighted to be able to place such a minor and unimportant post as this today)!

That video is of an X300, a 1996 -1999 model I think, your XJ is an X350, a totally different car.
I did the centre and side vents on my X350, but it was almost a year ago, so not 100% , but I think If your's is a left hand drive, then the left vent should be really easy, unclip the veneer surround from the instruments, it does just pull out but be careful you don't break any of the tangs, and then there should be some screws behind to remove the side vent, and a wire harness the centre vent is worse. The centre vents, you have to unclip the passenger Airbag cover, and unclip the centre console from the centre facia, Ideally you would actually have to unscrew the etire centre console, for easier access, but It can be done by just unclipping the front, and then you can get in with a driver to release the screws.

OK i found the workshop bit, you don't have to remove the centre console at all, it's all flooding back.
go here,
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...k-links-20085/
Then scroll down to find
X350 Workshop Manual in six sections (thanks to DB6)
and download the PDF for "electrical", open the PDF and scroll to
Center Register ( 82.20.38 ).
That tells you how to remove them

Yeah it took me a while to find it, I went with Logical first, so I looked in body, moved on to General Information, and then went with, well it IS bolted to the chassis, so I tried chassis, couldn't find it, then I though, well it isn't going to be in powertrain, and the clock is in the centre vent and all the vents do have wires connected. bit of a tenuous link to electrical, but there it was.
