Question Airbag flash code 7?

Hey guys, so I am now the new owner of a 2008 xj8 Vanden plas. I've been sorting out the small issues it came with thanks to the forum. But one of the issues is the airbag. I believe I'm a getting a code 7? The light will flash 7 times and then stop, then flash 7 again. It will do this 6 times before it finally stays on. Any idea what this code means? Am i reading rhe flashes correctly? Thanks for all the help!

I don't think you are reading it correctly. Normally the flash codes are 2 digits. It can be a bit tricky to get it right so try again.

Ok I will. When I first start the car the light stays on, then shuts off for a moment, then begins flashing. It seemed to flash 7 times each time but I will try it again today and report my findings!

Ok so I think I'm reading it wrong. It will flash once, then seven times. Does that mean it's a 17 code? The first flash representing the one and the following representing the 7?

You are now correct. Flash code 1-7 relates to the occupant position system which is the passenger side.

Check the connections under the seat first, disconnect, clean and reconnect then try again.

Hope this helps you out.

Hey buddy! I know everything about these airbag systems. Yes code 1-7 is passenger occupant sensor. The vehicle has four two in the headliner ( center and top of passenger) then one on right upper corner of radio head unit. Last one ( the one that turned the srs warning light off for me is in the passenger A pillar occupant sensor.

Each ultra sonic sensor has two wires going to it a black wire and a grey wire make sure they have good contact and connection
These four sensors monitor the passenger seat

Congrats on a beautiful car!
Cheers from Vegas

Thanks for all the help guys! I am happy to say that the airbag light is gone! I took out the passenger seat to aid in cleaning the connections as per Jims recommendation. Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem so I took the srs module out of my 04 and put it in the 08 and presto! Problem solved! I went ahead and ordered another module to put in the 04 for $32 on ebay! Thanks again guys!

I have a similar problem with my 08 XJ*. Got the 17 flash code. My mechanic tells me the passenger side control module is bad. He ohm checked the four sensors and the module and determined the module was bad. I have two part numbers to replace it and I'm not sure which is the passenger side module. I have C2C33921 and C2C27697? Are these modules also located under the passenger seat or are they in the boot? Thanks for the assist.
