Angry alarm

hi i have a 2007 xj6 petrol 3.0ltr.The alarm seems to be going off sporadically and today after i turned alarm off with key fob i tried to lock the doors with fob but car wouldnt lock. i locked car manually and then tried to unlock with fob which worked indicating key fob ok.
i waited 20 mins and used key fob again and car locked.
any ideas why alarm going off. note brought to gar garage main toyota dealer who said they cant see anything faulty

There are two latches on the bonnet, one latch is covered by a thin metal cover

and under this one there is a a switch which is often the culprit when you get

spurious alarms.

Had the exact same problem with mine and, as stated, was the bonnet latch alarm sensor, simple solution is to disconnect and jump terminals on sensor plug with wire and secure. This fools the alarm into thinking the bonnet is always shut and gets rid of the random car alarm going off/ unable to lock door situation (the car does not allow you to lock it if it thinks somethng is open).

Longer term solution is to repair/replace latch.

As above, I have exactly the same issue and it will be resolved as above early next week.

Hi there, my car was in at the Jag Specialist in Doncaster yesterday for various issues, one of which was the alarm.

The bonnet switch was by passed and the issue now seems resolved
