I do believe it's an Alpine unit. My nav dics is part number 1X43 10E898 BE. The last letter is the year of production. I think E is around 05-06. Navteq makes the dics and has an 08-09 version released.

All the documentation I can find says Denso e.g.

"A Denso DVD-based navigation system with postcode programming is available across the XJ range."

OK - So, if I want to figit around and try to make a copy of the updated disc for an 04 XJ, which is NOT my strength, I'll need the Denso SW version, not the Alpine...Correct??

Not sure. Navteq makes the DVD itself, so I think you need the Navteq disc. Are you talking about the 08-09 version? That is in the next thread. Just download it, unpack it. Use what ever DVD burning software you like and burn slow!

Default Help

I would like a new Navigation DVD for my car (04 XJR) but do not want to pay the outrageous Navteq price. I have access to a few DVD's off Ebay including 10E898-BE. But am not sure if it will work? Anyone know which DVD's will work and how can one be sure that he is getting a later version.

Thanks,

A

It's very unlikely that you will find the latest DVD for sale on eBay at a much lower price than Navteq. People usually sell old versions.

I understand it will not be the absolute latest version, my question is if 10E898-BE would work on a XJR? If it is off an XF, S type or a XK Series?

The XJ requires 1X43 10E898 "BA". The last two letters are the year and I think "BA or BB" is the 2004 disc. So higher the last letter... the newer the disc.

Nav disk from an X-Type, 04 or newer S-Type would work. XK and XF have different nav system and the disk would not work.

Thanks again, so my search begins now that I am better informed. I am also contemplating having a DVD systems installed in the headrests and I have done a search to see what some of the members on this board have used. Some good info there.
