Default Alternator

Hi guys I've got a squeal at startup seems to be coming from the alternator it goes away seems to be there on start up only .

I thought because I hardly use her lately it might have been some rust on the alternator pulley?

I've read somewhere about a TSB but couldn't find it

I was also wondering do our engines have a one way clutched pulley?

Any info greatly appreciated

Could just be a bearing in the alternator with dried up grease.
Take a voltage reading, if its good, fix it when you have the time

I suggest that you change the serpentine belt and see what happens.
There is no clutch on the alternator AFAIK.

Thanks guys had planned to do the belt and tensioner bearing afaik they're still the originals

My alternator seems to be fine although I've priced another just in case

I spent last year's budget on the car with all new struts and compressor overhaul and valve body
Been trying to retrofit Bluetooth looks like my amp has died so bought another that's on its way from the US as prices for second hand stuff over here in Australia are ridiculous

Had thought about upgrading to X351 XJ but thought I'm just going to keep this one I've done so much to personalise it couldn't be bothered starting all over again lol

Thanks for the answer on the pulley clutch I thought the only did those pulleys on diesel engines but could be wrong

Also did the water pump, thermostat with housing,
Some questionable hoses, & overflow tanks on both of mine.
The list does seem to go on forever sometimes.
Just never seems to be completed, but the end result is worth it.
