Amber light on overhead console?

Default Amber light on overhead console?
Excuse my ignorance. I have looked on the online drivers manual but haven't found the answer. What is the illuminated amber/orange light on the overhead console mean?

Is it near the button with a P on it? If so, it's for turning the parking sensors off. Helpful when you are too close in front and back.

The OnLine Manuals aren't the easiest to navigate.

The section you need is in Driver's Handbook/Controls & Instruments:

It was a lot simpler in the days when Jaguar posted the handbooks as a single document.

Thank you! I'm guessing it is the Parking sensors. The amber light is in front of the '2 dot' button.

Same as the setup on my XK. Jaguar designers are creatures of habit!

The light is actually the source of the front cabin "ambient" lighting.

Correct. Helps illuminate the centre console area.

And it can be dimmed using the same dimmer switch as the other gauge lighting.
