Annual XJ8L/Vanden Plas maintenance budget?
I've reviewed posts in this forum and have a reasonable feel for some of the trouble areas with X350 Jags. I'm looking for a nice used 2005+ XJ8L or Vanden Plas with 60k miles or less. Full service history and a PPI by an independent Jag specialist are a must.
What is a reasonable annual maintenance budget to cover scheduled upkeep and unexpected issues?
Thanks in advance!

The standard 10k service stuff (oil, air, cabin filters, spark plugs very occasionally) are reasonable, especially if you have a local trusted indy mechanic to work with. This lot could probably be done for $500 to $1000/yr, assuming you do 10k miles per year and don't want to work on the car at all yourself.
The issue with these cars is the "unexpected issues" A suspension issue can easily be 000s. Any electronic issue can easily be 000s.
These are big, heavy cars despite being aluminium so they like to go through brakes, tires and suspension parts, but probably no more so than any other large luxury saloon.
You are going to get a car as you described for relative pennies on the dollar for what it cost new, so I think it's fair to expect to have to pay more in maintenance than a "normal" second hand car. If you really need a number, I would say $3k per year, and most years you will come out well on top.
