Its just there to reduce intake air noise
Your options are
1. Fabricate a new pipe
2. Cut it off and add blanking plate
3. Repair the break
4. Replace the part
If you want to repair or cut off the silencer you need to plastic weld the part.
This is easy to do. First put superglue in the join/break then cover it in baking soda.
The baking soda causes the superglue to react going super hot for a fraction of a second effecting a plastic weld. It sets hard instantly and you can even file the results
Id recommend however you do a smoke test first to locate any and all sources of vac leaks. You can build one for next to nothing.

Go old school? On my LS1 GTO, I just sprayed carb cleaner at various points on the intake. When the idle increases, voila, intake leak.

Thanks, yup as i said smoke kit under construction, all that. Re #3 and 4, could the part be called something else? I am not able to find "silencer" in either the workshop manuals nor any auto parts stores.

Part 2
Part no XR849472 - without chamber
Part No C2C24192 - with chamber
Part 3 XR849656 - Non S/C
Its a good idea to download a copy of JTIS (parts) JEPC (service)
