Default Anyone carried out a rearseat armrest infotainment retroft?

I keep seeing these units from cars being broken on ebay and was wondering how much of a job it is to retrofit one?

Its a big job because of all the parts you need.

I had some parts but for the life of me could not get the wiring harness required and even tho I had the fiber link for rear entertainment I did not have the electrical connector behind the rear seat which is essential for the OEM link up.

Ended up putting in Audiovox screens that link to rear armrest controls so happy with that set up.

I have the original OEM screens.

Thanks, i'll give that a miss then. I didn't realise it was a dvd setup with screens in the headrests. I thought it was just music with a couple of headphone jacks.

I have been planning this retrofit for a while. I finally got all the pieces this last month. I plan to install very soon. The parts are out there, you just have to keep looking. I found mine while looking at an ebay ad for the headrest. I figured that if the seller had the headrest, he might have the rest. I asked and he did...

If you can find the rear armrest set up then you can install just what you want connecting to the main head unit and listen to music on earphones.

My set up will work that way and I have wireless head phones.

If i can do that i would be happy. I have never liked the screens in headrests look. Each to their own though.
The toys will have to wait as after looking at my fuel tank straps i have just bought some stainless replacements.

There were 3 additional options available from the factory for rear seat:
1.Only audio
2.Audio + rear monitors
3.Audio + rear monitors + DVD player in trunk

First option is very simple for retrofit, you just need rear armrest swap with wires in it and switchbox from donor car.
