Default Anyone has XJ without the hood leaper

Anyone here had their hood leaper removed and what options did you use... badge, holes filled etc?

Any info, photos or links?

Yep.. had mine removed when my car was resprayed..

The hole was welded up, they've done a cracking job - you cant tell it was on the bonnet before.

Before..

It's a relatively easy update mate.. that's a 2003 Super V8 your looking at ;-) It's been upgraded to an x358 by me, then downgraded (if you want to call it that) to 2006 Portfolio wings. If you dont change the wing mirrors its pretty quick, and you can of course do it step by step.

The wheels are 20" Orona's - (Genuine Jaguar, they come on the x351 - 4x fronts)

Beavis your car looks great. Is it lowered in the front or was the ground uneven in that side profile pic. Where did you get the piece for the front conversion?

Hey, please share your steps to the transformation... post link or something..... PLEASE.

Did you need new fenders for the front? Let a brother know... lol

@Muddybear - No, it was parked on uneven ground. It does actually need lowering as the ride height is currently way too high. Which parts are you referring to?

@Ikon - There's a full thread of mine on jaguarforum.co.uk (herculesuk1) with all the parts, where they came from and the cost. And no - you dont have to replace the fenders when you replace the bumpers.

I really LIKE the Leaper on the XJ! I don't think it would look good on the XK series but it has a timeless appeal to me on the sedans.
The local dealer salesman told me that it was discontinued due to "pedestrian safety" concerns. Are you kidding me??? If I can't see or hear a frigging CAR that I'm about to walk in front of then I have bigger problems than getting cut by the hood ornament!
If for no other reason, mine will stay on for spite. Lawyers......

I've seen the leaper on the new XJ and it didn't go with the styling of the new body imo. I agree it certainly looks great on the pre-2011 XJ's.

Dealer sounds like he's dumb..for even allowing something so ridiculous to roll off his tongue.

I agree. To me, the Leaper wouldn't fit at all on the new body style XJ or XF.

Beavies are you installing the side skirts to finish off the body transformation? I love that blue XJ8 with the nice body kit and 22" rims in your photo book. what site is that or company?! I tried to post pix but couldn't.

And your posts on the other forum is soooooo informative and detailed.

Guess you referring to this:

It's by a company called Wald, link here: JAGUAR XJ X350 SPORTS LINE BLACK BISON EDITION ~'07
The wheels are actually 21".. So, yeah.. im planning to install rear bumper, bootlip spoiler and side skirts. Actually, the bootlip spoiler arrived yesterday and is being fitted next week.

Yeap that's the website... that kit is way crazy expensive! If it was around $2500 I'll understand but $7k is the price of a nice used luxo car or nice used boat.

I'll rather source used parts from an 08 and maybe buy their spoiler and side skirts. Hey does anyone have better pix of this grill or have it on their car?

Right, so just picked the car up... So my hybrid portfolio\x358\Wald rear spoiler looks like this...

Got to say it's well made, I thought it was going to be a flakey bit of plastic, but is harder, more solid. Much deeper and taller than the standard XJR spoiler as you can see from these shots..

So overall i'd recommend it, certainly looks different and perhaps not quite so gaudy as the arden spoiler - given its a third of the price of the arden one, I made the right decision ;-)
