Question Anyone have a tow bar fitted and use it?

Please disregard this thread as there is no tow bar assembly for the X350

I have just read that there is no towbar assembly for the X350 because of the aluminum body.

Well that was a short thread.

Completely changed this message so as not to waste your time.

Hey Trosty, in the Canadian manual it gives instructions on towing and drill points. So there must be something available.

There was indeed a towbar available, it is referred to in my 2003.5 Technical Notes. It also needs a special wiring loom to pass input to the ASM. I don't think they are available anymore.

These notes do seem to be a bit barmy on towing, because it says that vehicle lowering is inhibited when the car is towing, but lowering only takes place over100 mph !! Anyone tow a trailer at that speed ?

The owner's manual details the very specific drill points for a tow bar and the limitation. And as pointed out, you need a wiring loom kit.

Also the rear park sensors have to be turned off as the manual states.

Well dang! I'm planning a move to Atlanta and I was wondering if I could tow a small trailer. I guess i'll just tow the car on a trailer with a Uhaul truck.

There is indeed a towbar, which can be purchased through towbarworld in Europe. It is rather pricey, and then you have to deal with install (which includes cutting a hole through your rear bumper) and accessing and installing a wiring kit. The wiring kit is supposedly more difficult than the bar itself. There is a helpful write up on "the other" forum, by a member who did an install in Canada.
