Default Archaic but Cheaper? Method for MP3 Connections

Has anyone installed a cassette deck in a car, then used a cassette-to-MP3 adapter to hook up IPODs/MP3 players to the audio system?

I know this is low-tech and gaudy, but it would work and be less costly than the $400+/- cost of the IPOD Adapter, correct/

How are you going to install an adapter from the cassette player to the head unit?!

see that's what I don't know. With "regular" cars (Americun) that adapter would be called wire. I know I'm being sassy. There really need be some kind of adapter so one can connect anything to the head unit in these cars?

You can make a wish in one hand, and crap in the other. See which fills up first.

My 99 XJ8 has a cassette player in it. I've used the cassette adapter thing for the mp3 player and it's been pretty handy to have; the issue tho has been WHERE to put the dang Walkman player so it's not sliding all over the place.

I haven't tried it yet, but iPod Touch has bluetooth....the 09 has a bluetooth. Hmmmm, I'm hoping they'll play nice and i can get my portable tunes that way

not gonna happen, the bluetooth on ipod or iphone wont transfer data between your car and the device, and even if it did, the jag wouldnt able to play the music file on your ipod/iphone
