Aux input installed!

The suffix (such as the 'AK') is not actually important - if you have the Alpine Premium audio with amplifier in the trunk then the analog aux-in mod will work. If you have standard audio (no amplifier) then you need to do the digital SPDIF version of the mod (with a suitable source, or ADC).
I have an updated version of the mod here: https://jaguar.willcoxonline.com/advanced-cd-player-mod

Thanks Ben.
So here is my deal with adding an aux...and a nav screen! I have the stock radio, no amp in the trunk. But I did find a nav unit from a junkyard that was 40 bucks...so I bought it and the wire harness to the jgate. After a couple of hours verifying wires, and making sure they can all play together, I made my own wire harness from both cars. The only question I have now is, do I have to change out the guts of my original CD player to the Nav unit so I will have sound, or does the stock Nav unit also put sound out through the wires on the back? Opened up, both boards look very similar. If I am able to use the stock nav unit, then i dont have to have the digital converter box.

Hi vdubluv74, I'm not sure if I completely understand what you're asking, but it sounds like you are replacing your non-nav system with the touchscreen based system? Presumably you already know that you need the DVD-NAV unit in the trunk as well as the touchscreen unit up front?
To the best of my, knowledge the CD Player that goes with the touchscreen is the same internally as the non-nav version of the CD player as far as the audio system is concerned. So, you would just need to do the aux-in mod to your new player, but as you have standard audio it will require an SPDIF digital input, meaning you'll need an Analogue to Digital Converter to get sound in from an analog source like a headphone jack etc.

Thank you Ben Willcox !!
I've been reading about the Analog Aux-In mod for over a year now and this past weekend decided I was just going to do it. Using your online video/documentation I had the entire project completed in a few short hours! To my surprise everything worked from first test.... no de-bug required. I chose to tape off the L and R signal channels on both ends of the ribbon cable. No detectable bleed-through from the CD player and really great sound sourced from my older iPhone. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with others!
Best Regards, William

Just wanted to drop in and also give a huge thanks to Ben for sharing his brain with the community. I was able to install a hidden AUX port AND a Bluetooth 5 receiver last weekend in my 04' XJ8 with the Standard (SPDIF) sound system and it works perfectly.
While I was in there I also installed a 9-band EQ, something I wanted to do when I upgraded the speakers and added a sub/amp but didn't have the time or budget for. I'm now wireless and sounding better than ever

Hey Peter,
I did follow Ben's YouTube clip but only partially. I have the CD changer in the trunk and no Nav Screen, so I went for a more basic installation and just sacrificed the front CD player functionality for the AUX/Bluetooth.
I isolated (taped) the 4th pin on the ribbon cable, and soldered a SPDIF cable to the 4th pin lead + ground. That isolated the CD audio and replaced it with the input from my ADC.
