Long story short. The car alarm went off at 1 am. It wouldn't stop until I pulled the battery. I ran the code reader and deleted codes. I put the lead back on the battery went to bed. 2 am alarm went off again. Pulled lead and closed trunk. Went to bed. Next morning I can't open the trunk from the cabin (obviously) or from the rear under the lip of the trunk. I only have the valet key since mother in law accidentally threw my key fob out...
How do I open the trunk? Can I jump-start the car from the front (under the hood? Behind the wheel well?) somehow? Or at least charge the system so I can open the trunk? Can I put power through the cigarette lighter?
How do I fix the alarm problem?
also, can you still get key fobs? I was looking and couldn't find any that old.
Hi Haggis 95
You can open the trunk (boot) using the ignition key. Look under the chrome plinth just to the right of the Jaguar button and you'll see a lock type hole, the ignition key fits in there and opens the boot lid or at least it does on mine.
Good luck
Hi again. Sorry Haggis I just read your post again ( properly this time ) and I see that you have lost the key so disregard the above.
Agree with Abonano your best option might be to take a live to under the bonnet. Not sure about the cigarette lighter but I don't see why not. I'm sure I've seen quick charge devices that plug into it.
I got a new key fob for my last X350 off ebay and it programmed in no problem using the headlight flasher method. I think there are different frequencies for different parts of the world so you would need to get the right one.
Hope you forgave the Mother in Law I'm sure she didn't mean it.
I believe it's in, or very near the fuse box under the hood on the left hand side looking from the front, You can jump the car from there, but you just need to supply enough voltage to pop the trunk lid, I have a power probe, which I used to open mine, with one of those, you just hook it up to a spare battery or another car, then you can simply supply voltage to any of the fuses, I used one of the bigger bolted on fuses, which put voltage into the system. Then you just have someone press the button on the trunk at the rear, or if you have the fob, just open it using the button on that, then you have access to the battery to replace or recharge.
A Power Probe is a very handy tool to have around, you can check circuits and even power up parts off the car.
IIRC correctly, the Valet key will not open either the trunk or glove box so it's going to need more than a power source. In fact the last person who asked on this forum about the same thing, had to remove the back seat then remove a panel that gave access to the trunk. I'd be very surprised if the dealer didn't have software that plugs into the ECU to address this issue. I would give them a call.
The trunk "should" still open with the push button on the lid, if there is power, The valet key may not open the trunk, but if valet mode isn't active then supplying power should be enough.
