Default Battery error +Restricted performance+DSC not aviailable

Hi All,

I recently bought a Jag 2.7 V6 Diesel, the very next day the red battery symbol came ON. I took it to a garage who suggested to change the alternator. I did so but the error continued and also now i have Restricted performance, DPF full and DSC not avialable errors.

I took it back to them and they advised to change the battery as well. I did so but the errors continued. Now, they suggested to change the BMS on the negative terminal of the battery. we did not but no luck.

I believe we need to reset the car after alternator, battery or BMS change. Could someone kindly advise the steps to achieve this please?

I think you really need to read the codes otherwise you or the garage are just guessing and that will get expensive quickly.

Thank you Joe. I tried 2 different mechanics and both didnt seem to find any codes on thier obd. One of them had battery module error, hence i replaced that. I think the car needs reset after change of better module(BMS). Cant seem to find the trick to it..

Try disconnecting the negative cable from its terminal and touching it to the positive terminal for 30 seconds.

After this 'hard reset', you may need your radio code to reset it (wasn't the 2.7 only available in the UK, which has radio codes to safeguard against theft)?
You will also need to press your accelerator to the floor 4 or 5 times with the ignition key in position 1 to 'train' your throttle body and hold your windows 'down' button until you hear a click, followed by the 'up' button until again you hear a click, in order to 'train' your auto windows raise and lower. Your car will also lose some of its learned transmission shift patterns until it has relearned your driving style?
I cannot recall whether or not you also have to reset your memory, steering wheel and pedal settings...Perhaps a more knowledgeable Member could help you with this?

dzack, at the risk of seeming somewhat presumptuous, may I suggest you take JoeDredd's advice and buy yourself a code reader that will read Jaguar codes? Honestly, you will save yourself a fortune over time?

In addition to the generic Powertrain (P) codes that all OBD 2 code readers show, it can show you Body (B) codes, Chassis (C) codes and Network (U) codes specific to your Jaguar?

It needn't cost you a fortune; for example, I use (reasonably successfully) the following: https://www.ebay.com/itm/iCarsoft-LR...0&shqty=1#shId

Although I actually bought it from the UK a little more cheaply than this, so look around?
