Default Battery for xj8 (2008)

I am about to replace the battery (70k miles and looks like original battery) and have read on the forum that the Exide Global Extreme is a good replacement (calcium plates) Any comments on the Auto Craft Battery size 49, 900 CCA? It has also read that to save your settings it is recommended to hook up a battery tender to the terminals before removing battery and leaving them on until the new battery is installed. Any recommendations or comments on using the battery tender? Thanks

I bought a Varta (made by Bosche) for mine and it cured all sorts of strange faults that had been happening for a good while. I connected a 12v motorcycle battery up to keep everything live while I did the swap. Just be careful to not touch leads together or the live to earth.
Cheers
Pete

I love Odyssey Batteries. They are pricey, but you'll probably never buy another battery and it won't leave you stranded.

PC1350 - Odyssey batteries

I use the 1500 on my truck/trailer and go weeks without driving and never fails to start. I plan on buying the above battery in my Jag when it comes replacement time.

I bought mine 2 years ago from Pep boys. I used Bosch. No issues so far
