Default Blow Me

I have been a proud jagUar owner for quit some time now and i love my car (2004 xjr). I have modified it for better performance and looks and people aww at the looks and power. but 2 nights ago I was confronted at my local race car meet by a MB E55 and a audi S8. So did what any other faithful jagUar would do. I lined my car up with the E55 an S8 needless to say the jag lacked in power.

Im thinking of some HEAD work and EURO Toys unlimited 2.1 kenny bell blower swap Does anyone out there have this upgrade or now of anyone that does.

Ihave to get these german ***** bags back

What is already done to your car performance wise ? I really shocked that the audi A8 beat you. Did you guys do a a roll on or a still start ?

I am sorry to break this to you, but unless you a prepared to spend some serious money into modifying the engine, an E55 is really too much for an XJR to handle.

An S8, on the other hand, can be easily beaten with a couple of "bolt-on" modifications. Why do I say this? I have recently raced an S8 and beaten it with only a drop in filter and axle-back exhaust...both of which probably don't even add any power.

The only reason I can think of right now, of why you lost to the S8, is because you raced from a dig. If the driver of the S8 brakeboosts off the line, his all-wheel-drive system will EASILY outlaunch an XJR. I have huge traction problems and would only have agreed to race that S8 from a roll.

Good luck next time! Try and get that S8 to race from a 45mph roll...that is the sweet spot for our cars from a roll! I was able to hold off an E92 M3 to about 110mph starting from a 45mph roll.

He said it was an Audi S8 not the A8, so I am not surprised.

PERFOMANCE
The car Has the euro toys innercooler and a drop in filter.

AUDIO N VIDEO
Alpine 7" head rest monitors. (factory head rest look small and cheap)
Alpine DVD player (the factoy one)
Alpine 7.1 dolby digital sound processor.
Alpine 6 1/2 type X components front and back.
Apline PDX 400.4 for the components
Alpine type X 12" sub in a custom box
Alpine PDX 1000.1 for the sub

I dont want to spend the money on for pulleys and supercharger porting and not be satisfied. I figured stepping up to a twin screw type would be more efficent. I know it will be expesive and im willing to spend the money I just have a few diveability quetsions and want to hear the opinion of some one who has this up grade.

how was the intercooler fitment? They do not make one for the 04, as there is a crossbar in the way. Did you go with the one for the 03 xjr or for the xkr? Also, you are looking at alot of money for a twinscrew. There isn't even a price for the 04xjr for it. He told me there really wasn't enough interest in it. The 03 twin screw kit is 6k, not including installation, so you're probably looking at spending atleast that amount.

I opted for the xkr 1. Now for the fitment The stubburn cross bar had to be modified (Thanks to uncle Pedro) and the lower section of the front apron in between the fog lights was removed to make more room. Dont like the way it looks though thinking of ordering a mina gallery lower mesh grill to cover it up. Had to relocate the water bongs (thanks to perfomance radiator. 6k is really not a bad price concidering it is a 75k car. Have you seen the prices on AMG upgrades now thats Xpensive

Hey more power to you if you have the cash for a twin screw...maybe someday for me, but not now. You'll need it to take a e55 amg, I looked into getting one, but they were out of my budget. They run what...a 12.5 stock. That's impressive!

Jeez fellas. Is this the only time you really need to catch another car? Before I would otherwise butcher up a really fine automobile, I would install a nitrous kit, but remember you need to spray fuel as well as nitrous or damage the engine beyond repair. Another word to the wise: If you shoot nitrous before the engine CFM requirements allow it, you will blow the intake manifold off the engine. In other words the revs and the throttle position must be quite a lot above idle.
The good part is this type of system (NOX) is easily transferable to another engine if you so desire, and might be cheaper and reversible if done right. You can do a clean installation and no one would know the difference, unless they see the bottle or the solenoids.

Have you considered an ECU retune? Paramount Performance in England do one that gives a 35BHP increase. It would mean mailing it but it's worth thinking about.
Top blower pulley swap is worth around 25 BHP and bottom crank pulley swap about 35 BHP so it's not really difficult to get the power up.
Add an exhaust and a K&N and you should have around 500BHP at the engine.
Good luck beating those guys next time around!
