Default Blue collar xjr owner looking for ideas

Hello fellow Jaguar enthusiast, my name is Brandon and I own a 2005 Jaguar XJR. I’m a little new to the forum even though I have been a member for at least a year now. I first joined when I purchased a 2006 XJ8L but unfortunately that car was totaled in an accident caused by tourists.
Anyway, I now have this beautiful beast of a machine which I really enjoy and want to some amazing things to.
INFO:
2005 Jaguar XJR SILVER
117K Miles
Mina Gallery Intake pkg.
Mid Reasonators Deleted

Future Plans:
Pulley Upgrade (UNDECIDED ON WHICH ONE/NEED ADVICE)
RIM UPGRADE TO 21” (UNDECIDED)
TUNED (NEED ADVICE)

I have searched the forum but it seems all the ideas I’m finding are from outdated posts so I decided to make a thread for some fresh ideas and testimonials. By the way I considered myself to be a DIY guy so I’m down for so labor intensive upgrades. I will post pics below, tell me what you guys think. Thanks

The smaller wheels are a better ride than the 21"s.
Tires cost a lot less in smaller sizes as well.
!7's are the stock size, 18's are as big as i would go.
That's what came on mine.
The bigger the sidewall, equates to a better ride.

I have done quite a bit to my 2005 XJR .

I have the smaller pulley which many say over revs the SC BUT it delivers excellent mid range performance I think.

I also had my SC ported which I believe was a total waste.

No one reputable does ECU upgrades to pre 2006 MY when big electronic upgrades by JLR were made.

The best upgrades I have done include the LSD I fitted and also cleaning out the gunge in the charge coolers and every where below the throttle body.

To minimise further gunge build up I installed water/meth injection kit as well as an oil catch can.

The water/meth kit does not increase hp but does help keep things cooler and cleaner.

I installed an upgraded SC pump along with an additional SC radiator with fans.

I did install an X pipe in place of the mid resonator as well as 200 cel cats.

Also stage 1 inlet and airfilter flap removal.

Aren't 19" wheels the minimum for the XJR and Super V8 due to the larger brakes?

Yes I think so. Smaller than 19" with Brembo brakes then wheel will "interfere" with caliper.

Sorry, too many cars/tires to keep track of.
19's on custom rims (standard)
20's optional on sv8's
Many have said 20's give better performance, while 19's give better ride.
2006 sv8 did not have Brembo's

I use the 18" standard " luxury " alloys with winter tyres on each winter on my 2004 Super V8, it has Brembo brakes and the wheels do clear the callipers, have been using then for 4 winters now with no issues. In the warmer weather I have 20" Sepangs on the car.

Not true, mine has been done by Viezu/Paramount.

Ok just went out to look at my wheels and there is plenty of clearance either end of the Brembo calipers with my 19" wheels. More clearance on the front than the rear. It does look like the 18" wheels would have no problem.

I be more worry about maintenance at 116K miles than performance upgrade. All suspension bushings probably damaged. Air shock probably leak or about to leak. Transmission flush and filter change. Spark plug change at 100k miles. Brake fluid flush. I can go on and on.....

When was it done?

Paramount stated that it would be 50/50 chance of working when I asked them.

Would NOT flush the trans myself.
Fluid, filter, with steel pan conversion, yes.
annamiata hit the mark on the most common issues.
Way more important than bigger wheels are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flushing trans was not that difficult really but it is a two person job without special equipment.

Another point on the ECU tune. For non VVT 2005 XJR engines it does not gain much at all. That is what Cambo stated in another thread and since he has done it I beleive him. Certainly not much bang for the buck.

If you have never cleaned out the SC charge coolers above around 80,000 just about all mods are a waste of time.

Done last year, ran a 12.89 1/4 mile the next day, the fastest 4.2 time without LSD I am aware off.

To clarify, mine is one of the early X350s without VVT

13.2? Very fast, but still not quite there, unless I am missing something? Any mods done?

Ah read it again, what are you using to get those numbers?
All my times are official from Santa Pod.

I’m definitely going to tackle all maintenance items first. I’m trying to make a little Christmas list for myself afterwards which is the reason my post.

Transmission is up first
Engine/ SC maintenance NEXT
Suspension: already replaced 2 rear shocks. Replacing front 2 very soon.
