Another point on the ECU tune. For non VVT 2005 XJR engines it does not gain much at all. That is what Cambo stated in another thread and since he has done it I beleive him. Certainly not much bang for the buck.

If you have never cleaned out the SC charge coolers above around 80,000 just about all mods are a waste of time.

is there a guide for this procedure? (That doesn’t have dead links) thanks man any advice helps.

13.2? Very fast, but still not quite there, unless I am missing something? Any mods done?

Ah read it again, what are you using to get those numbers?
All my times are official from Santa Pod.

There is no guide that I am aware of in this Forum for DIY trans flush. Simple drain yes.

The way I did it:
Bought 14 quarts of LF6. Trans and cooler take 10.53 quarts. You will spill some.
Raised car up off the garage floor and levelled. Used ramps at front and adjustable stands at rear.
I had a jack to make minor height adjustment at front. I disconnected the battery to prevent air suspension from working.
Placed tarp under work area and had rolls of paper towels.
Made sure I could loosen fill nut/bolt.
Soaked, fromthe top where they protrude, all pan bolts with penetrating oil.
Drained trans fluid.Kept track of how much.
Removed pan and also mechatronics sleeve.
Replaced pan and mechatronics sleeve with new.
Undid trans cooler lines from side of transmission.
Filled until oil dripped out of fill hole.
Put a deflector plate over open cooler holes in trans to delect ejected fluid down into large bowl.
Got wife to start engine for about 2 seconds which caused about a quart of fluid to be ejected out of trans.
Put in about a quart new oil.
Did this procedure until clean oil ejected.
Blew out old oil from trans cooler.
Reattached cooler lines to transmission.
Then did normal refill procedure at the correct temperature using thermal "gun" to track temperature.
Drove for 50 miles or so and checked oil level and found I needed a few more ozs for correct fill level.

Not much more effort to do the complete flush. The force of the ejected oil is very high and a lot comes out in a couple of seconds at least a quart.

I refilled with Lifeguard 6, ZF recommended, while others have used less expensive alternative oil but I figured an extra $30 for something I am not going to do again for 80k miles.........

There are some easily replaceable silicone components in the transmission that can be seen when the pan is off. If I were to do this again I would replace those while at it.

As far as the charge coolers are concerned they are easily removed when the SC is out. I soaked mine overnite in a soft carbon removal product and flushed out with carb cleaner.
The other components such as the elbow and throttle body I used carb cleaner and a toothbrush then used very fine wet and dry sandpaper to get the surfaces as smooth as possible.

Apologies, I was in a rush and didn't read your post properly:-
Not a great deal; a 10% stainless pulley (Powerhouse Automotive), a bespoke dynamometer developed map optimised to exploit 99 octane fuel, underbonnet insulation removed to aid charge cooling, and coolers cleaned up. 285 /30 /20 rear tyres.
The grip offered by the Gosfield surface is a great help.

Thaks for the reply.
I can't quite get my head around that result, as you have done so little mods. My friend has run a 12.55 in his 2008 XJR, yet he has done so many proven mods, only getting into 12s with the LSD.
Take it to Santa Pod and see what happens for a level playing field?

There are considerable variations between apparently identical examples of all production cars, Jaguars or not. When I bought the car, I looked at several 350s & 358s, over a considerable period, testing quite a few. I bought this example for a number of reasons; specification, Jaguar ownership followed by that of an aerospace design engineer, and the fact that it seemed noticably quicker and "together"than every other example I tried, regardless of age / mileage (I know that the butt accelerometer is notoriously unreliable, but nonetheless...).
https://www.automobile-catalog.com/ is the only recent source I have found which quotes figures other than manufacturer claims; they suggest 13.2 for the 1/4 mile, so 12.xx seems perfectecly possible for a well maintained, but loosened up example, even bog standard.

I've had a quick look at the Santa Pod site; if I can find a RWYB date this year when decent weather can be expected, which doesn't clash with motorsport or family commitments, I'll do that.

Slightly off topic, I was parked a couple of cars away from you at the Classic Works XJ 50th; a very well turned out car, how do you do it?
