Default Blue Smoke under hard acceleration

Hi,

I noticed while going uphill under hard acceleration my 2005 XJ8 puts out a huge cloud of blue smoke behind me in the upper band of the RPM ranges.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be before I take it in to the dealer?

Cheers

Blue smoke is generally oil. What is your oil consumption for your engine? You may want to try a heavier grade. I use 5w30 synthetic.

There isnt really oil consumption at all that we notice. Just the regular oil change intervals.

There isnt any smoke at all unless I completely floor it, and then only past 4000+rpm.

Cheers

Take a look at the crankcase ventilation system, it may be letting oil into the intake.

OK will have a look.

Is there a specific side I should be looking at?
