Default Boot catch removal X350

Hello,
My boot latch is playing up on my X350 and ive been trying to remove it to fit a new micro switch which i believe is the cause of the problem?, ive gotten as far as dropping the boot lining down, taking the hazard warning holder off and the light but getting the plastic catch cover etc off has totally stumped me!, anyone had any experience of this job?, Cheers.

As you have already posted an Intro, I've moved your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to X350 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Post a pic of the area that you can't remove and we can help.

There is no microswitch in the boot latch you will need to replace the latch.

They are not easy to repair.

I have done mine a couple of times-first one had a failed cog in the plastic g'box

and the second had a very tired spring.

I installed a new trunk lock (a little pricey) in my 2004. The difficult part in dropping the surround of the latch was how tight it was. However by using a small sharp putty knife to help loosen the surround from the edge closest to the lower edge of the trunk and popping the "buttons" off with a trim removal tool, it dropped right off. The only other area I had problems with was in releasing the pull down cups from the trunk. I ended up breaking off the plastic clips that kept it in place.

I wanted to try and take the lock itself apart to see why it failed but have been unable to take it apart without destroying it, therefore I haven't touched it yet. Good luck.

I had the same experience, removed with intention of repairing, and unable to access the internals without destroying it. I haven't replaced it yet because it''s simply not worth the money at the moment simply to avoid using the key.

The latch is effectively sealed. There is a massive rivet that holds everything together. If I remember right the only thing you can do is take the motor cover off. I had to replace mine as one of the gears got stripped.
