Brainstorm Request - Reprogramming x350 Instrument Cluster
Greetings. I kindly request someone with actual experience to guide me and advise me to avoid trouble.
Objective: I want to programme the steering lock module out
HERE is how I would like to do it and want technical insight. This will be my first time on SDD but my knowledge of computers is fairly good.
Thought and action plan. Correction welcome.
1. Connect back up supply
2. Insert key to on position
3. Connect SDD (I have 131v)
4. Download current vid block (I dunno how yet)
5. Configure instrument cluster as new
6. Choose option of "No Column lock module"
7. Complete new programme
8. Disconnect sdd
9. Remove key
10. Remove power back up
11. Drop steering (after removing the x4 mounting nuts)
12. Disconnect power supply to lock module
13. Remount steering nuts

I recently flashed the cluster as a new module, I was a bit worried, but everything went smoothly. SDD will guide you through the procedure. During the procedure, you need to enter the code from the sticker located to the right of the battery, make sure before that the code is readable, it's about security, the cluster is related to the immobilizer, apparently the second sticker is on the steering column, visible after removing the cover. There is no need to upload VID Block, but with such a risky procedure make sure your car is configured correctly in SDD.

1. Do you remember SDD asking you if you have the Steering Lock Module?
2. How do you ensure the car is configured to SDD correctly?
3. How long did the whole procedure take you?
4. By downloading VID block, I meant picking a copy from the car and saving it on my laptop.
Thanks again for your time and experience.

1. Yes SDD do ask about steering lock, I am not sure if it does in this particular procedure or earlier, when entering the service procedures.
2. I am not a pro in VID block, suggest entering a dealer options and resume all options that you have on your car, then make a full vehicle scan. If any module refuses to communicate with it or SDD reports any critical fault I recommend to abort flashing the cluster.
3. That was the longest flashing ever did to my cat, prepare stable power to a laptop, key fobs and text from the sticker, programming took more than 30 minutes.
4. Very good idea, let me know how to manage a VIDB or where to read about it.
PS
An ingineering mode access is required to flash a cluster as I remember.
