Brake Rotors

brakes
Ken, My 06 XJ8 is quite the car. Like you, I'll be doing most of the maintenance and what's alarming to me is the maint records that came with my 06 showing a brake job at 25k for a total of $873.58 That blows my mind... the break down is as follows...$145 OEM Brake Pad, $97 Brake Pad Set, $370 for two rear rotors. $200 labor plus supplies and tax.
I find it hard to believe the rear rotors could not have been turned. Or are giant rotors like like what's on the Jag vulnerable to wrapping compared to smaller rotors? Maybe the previous owner "rode the brakes" nevertheless, I can't imagine shelling nearly a grand for a brake job!
I know the rear rotors are new, because of the surface rust. I'll be rotating the tires soon and will clean up the surface rust and paint the center parts so they'll show a little better. It was my wife who noticed the rusty rotors (hubs) showing through the wheels!
Let me know how it goes.
