Default brake rotors and pads

I have a 2006 black on black XJ8. I am looking to redo my brakes and am wondering if anyone out there has used aftermarket equipment. The OEM gear is 200-300 per wheel vs some more reasonably priced Zimmerman rotors and akebono ceramic pads that run ~ 100 wheel

Those are the EXACT brake components my mechanic installed on my 05 and 07 XJ8's. I believe these are a better option than OEM, performance and cost-wise. The cost savings will even pay for a brake fluid flush and then some!

The Akebono ceramics are the only way to go.
Almost zero brake dust on the rims plus great stopping power. Make sure you do a complete brake fluid flush (and every 2 years). Super DOT 4 is the factory spec brake fluid.
Good luck.

I used Centric premium rear brake rotors and posi-quiet semi-metallic pads kit part # 90920502 and front pads part number 10412402, I didn't get the front rotors because the existing ones were good. All from Rock Auto at a cost of $189.56. So far so good.

I used a set of siped rotors from Brake Performance in Chatsworth CA And Akebono EUR series pads. Everything works perfectly and the dust is down 80% and is almost invisible.

I just had a full set of E-line crossed-drilled and slotted rotors installed with their ceramic brake pads (ordered from R1 Concepts via Amazon). $254 delivered. I am looking forward to saying goodbye to the black dust on my wheels. With install, total cost was a bit less $500. (Had my upper front control arms replaced at the same time, as the ball joints were loose.)
