Brake Shudder FIXED - Was not the brakes!!!
Well, did one thing that needed to be done and fixed another at the same time as an unintended consequence-joy!
For some time I have had brake judder/shimmy at some speeds. As I had done 110k miles and pads were worn, I replaced discs with slotted/dimpled rotors and new pads. I now get the slotted brake whine at ~30mph but also still seemed to get the shudder, not always, and I did not think the new rotors were out of round or that I had not bedded the pads in well so something else was amiss.
While in there, I did a once over look at all the other suspension parts and they 'looked' OK, but as people said the front trailing arm bushes sack out at 80k miles or so I had a much better look at those. While they 'looked' OK, I saw that if I loaded it and twisted it, I could see a crack in the rubber.
I ordered two bushes from SNG Barret Jag, although they are available from Lemforder too as PN 29783 01
Lemforder Link
(NOT selecting USA. Use Great Britain)
Pulling the arm off was easy, mark the front eccentric and remove the bolt and remove the bolt on the spherical joint on the wheel end and pull the arm out.
I used a 12T harbor freight press and heated the arm with boiling water and pressed the old bush out and the new one in and reassembled.
I would allow 2-3 hours per side.
Been for a 300 mile drive today since replacement and not one brake shudder.
So, moral of the story, with suspension, need to look after components are loaded and a look does not show everything.
Brake shudder can come from worn trailing arm bushes.
Happy to have spent the $66 for the two bushes and $100 for the press.
I also used it on the rear trailing arms on the XJS that were MUCH harder to remove so it has paid for itself easily.
Hope this is some help to some one sometime.

Where did you get the $100 press from and will the press also allow you to change other bushings at other locations on the car?
........ aha reread your thread and it says Harbor freight, Doh!!! another senior moment..

Yes, this is the front of the curved trailing arm and they are about 3" diameter and 3" wide. It was my LF too, coincidence? but no oil leaking out but certainly separation of rubber and metal.

I had a coupon that took another 25% off
Can do many other buses too, bu not sure I could do the shock bush while the lateral arm was still on the car.
