brake squeal only when weather is warm
I've had this annoying issue with my rear brakes since last summer. Only when the outside temperature is over 85F, after a bit of driving the rears will start squealing. Only during the last 5 mph (0 to 5 mph), no noise when braking from higher speeds.
Rotors were changed a few years ago, no wear issues. First set of pads were Raybestos I believe. Current set are Akebono from the recommendation of this forum.
I've checked them for odd wear, cleaned them, used the Jaguar grease at the metal-metal touch points. Nothing seems to work. But they made zero noise for the last 8 months, now it's suddenly back.
Do I just use some Disc Brake Quiet on the back of the pads and call it a day? New rattle springs?
Thanks,
-Michael

Hey Michael. The fastest way to explain this is to send you this link.

to answer your question, if the pads aren't worn, then yes the metal to metal vibration is causing the squealing and you will want to apply the disk brake quiet or teflon friction plates between the pad and the piston.
