Buying a rebuild power steering rack...advice
I am going to order a power steering rack tonight as mine is leaking very badly. I found a company online called detroitaxle. They have 99.6% good feedback and thousands of customers. Good sign. I called to ask them a few questions. The interaction on the phone was subpar (guy was kind of a d**k). Didn't identify himself or the store, seems distracted, etc. Didn't get the feeling that if I had an issue they would be easy to deal with. He said they don't replace the inner tie rods, but they "repress them" with a 10,000lb press. I don't get that. They are asking $259, and I would get $50 back for my core, so $209 total with shipping included. Hard to pass that up.
Is this what I want? He claims they do more on their rebuilds than others do...they are $100+ cheaper than most I found. What would you do?

I'm to the point in my life where I realize that the cheapest part is not necessarily the best choice. Also, first impressions are important. Once a D**k, always a D**k. I have recently purchased 3 parts on EBay, all from 99.9% positive sellers, and had to return all 3 parts. They took the returns, no questions asked...but I lost 2 weeks of my time. And, in the case of an alternator, I had to remove and replace it 3 times when it was all over. One alternator was pumping 20+ volts out. I was very lucky I didn't fry the whole car.
