Default C2C29016 X-358 Boot/Trunk chrome trim strip

I am looking for a used chrome strip that runs along the top of the rear trunk panel on a 2008-2009 XJ. It has a button in the middle and says JAGUAR across it. JLR P/N is C2C29016. I am US based so please limit to the US.

Hi Jberry20,
Your 2008-9 finisher won't have a button in the middle, well not one you can see, as it's underneath the middle. Part number is correct, but I can't find it on JLR classic parts.
Best of luck.

May I ask how is that thing fixed onto the boot lid? With an adhesive? Or screws?
Mine is kinda loose, i.e. on one side it can be pushed in more than on the other.

Adhesive, at this time is all bad. If I remember rightly there are six screws, just take out the trunk inner cover. Easy peasy.

Sooo if I'm understanding correctly...
...under the inner cover there are 6 screws, when I unscrew them (given the adhesive is gone by now) the chrome trim should pretty much just fall off...?

Yes, there are 6 studs with nuts accessible via holes in the inner body panel. I urge you to be careful as the plastic brackets the studs are mounted in are no doubt brittle with age and there is no other way to attach the chrome strip if the brackets are broken. A new chrome strip is U$350 and I was unable to find a used one because they all break after so many years.

Hi, Jaroslav,
+1 on screws and adhesives.
Actually, there are nuts! You will need to remove boot liner to gain access to nuts.
After you remove nuts, push on studs, judicially, and the piece will come out. You can clean remnant of adhesive with plastic scraper and alcohol.
To aid process I recommend to rinse operator's throat with similar cleanser, 🥃.
Get yourself some 3M VHB tape 1-1.5mm thick, clean surfaces with remaining alcohol. Works like a charm.
I did it when I was installing backup camera. Which I recommend, as you're already there.

I just did it in my Jinxy, it wasn't easy, you have to take the trunk cover out, the six screws and then... gently, gently, gently push the chrome trim out, there is some 3M tape. I removed the trim to put a new license plate lights set, put the chrome trim back and used the same tape that was there.

First time I pushed on that chrome piece I could hear something falling through, and eventually this came out:

I suppose that it had to have broken off of the chrome trim?

I wish I could find better photos than these to confirm: https://www.autoreservejaguar.com/xj...te-lights.html
