Default Calling all SV8 owners, need brakes

I need to replace my front brakes, and Akebono does not make the fronts. I hunted and hunted, even with cross reference charts, no go. I have put Akebono's on all my past and present cars, and loved them. Unless someone has found a Akebono PN, it looks like OEM genuine will have to do, and I'll have to deal with the dust on the front wheels.
There have been so many threads with "squealing" brakes lately, I will go with what is currently on the car (genuine). Quiet, great grab, and a ton of dust.
Unless...... Someone has a PROVEN daily driver winner (no track pads).

Sorry for another brake pad thread. I was reading thru about 3 hrs of threads, and just couldn't do it anymore. Many were too old, and listed only for XJ8,XJR, and LWB. The 06 SV8 is one of the few years that has non-brenbo 355mm brakes.
Thanks
Mark

Contact Porterfield Brakes and ask what they can make. I used to send them my backing plates and specify the pad compound.

I used to do this all the time on different trucks that were my daily drivers, plus on my race cars.

Changing my rear brakes on my 06 XJ Super 8 with Akebono Euro 1095 Ceramic/Kevlar together within rotors SP (Street Performance) Performance F23-382-P Drilled And Slotted Brake Rotors - Bright Sliver Zinc Plating. The rotors are from Autoplicty.com for $238.00. The pads are from True Blue Parts for $56.00 on Ebay--Both No tax & free ship
The fronts are extremly hard to find unless you want Jaguar factory/OEM or low end brands. Still looking for front ceramics. I remember Hawk makes a front ceramic pad. Still looking for drill & slotted front rotors preferable bright zinc coated due to looks. The EBCs black coated rotors deposit black dust. Rotors by Dura are available for the fronts at $500+ a pair for the guys with money to burn.
On another note read up on the ITT Super Dot 4 brake fluid. The superceeded Super Dot 4 is thicker and may cause faster wear of the rears. My dealer says they wear out faster than the fronts due to being applied ahead of the fronts to minimize front end nose diving. Who knows the real story.
Let you know what I end up with on the fronts. I tend to always opt for the best hi performance parts which are usually the most expensive. I enjoy the bragging rights.
Good luck.

Good news and feeling lucky--

http://www.cquence.net/jaguar-super-v8-2006-sport-series-drilled-and-slotted-brake-rotors.html

They have some quality brakes for the fronts. The good ones are pricey.

If you don't have the Brembo's, I presume you have the standard XJ8 setup and you could search eBay that way. Also you can look up and call these guys. Brakemotive. They've been around for years on eBay, get good reviews. I would just call them.

No, that's not right.

The supercharged cars from 2006MY onward still have bigger brakes than the non-supercharged, but they aren't the Brembo's. They are a twin-piston ATE caliper. The non-supercharged XJ8 has single-piston calipers.

You need to also look for 2006/2007 S-Type R brake setup, same one used on the 2006 onward SuperV8 and XJR, also the X150 XK, the XF, X351 XJ etc.

The OEM part numbers have the following supercession C2C28291 ==> C2C35440 ==> C2C36974 ==> C2C40926

For example these EBC pads, DP21912

Thanks. I'll use the 06-07 STR to search my options for the front axle. They are 355 mm. Rears are 326mm.

It's strange that front axle pads/rotors are so limited.

If you want to go next-level then the 6-piston Alcons with 400mm rotors from the XKR-S / XKR Portfolio will bolt straight up to the X350, the rears from that car bolt on as well.

There is a forum member with a 2006 XJR (or 2008? can't remember) who has these brakes fitted.

That's awesome 60 to 0 power. I think the 6 pistons require 20 in rims. More than I want to do.
BTW, I also have a MB CLS 55 AMG with the 030 performance option. 8 piston Brembos. The 2 piece rotors are sized like man hole covers. Rotors are $1K each. Carbon Ceramic rotors are like $4K each.

Mine does not stop like it should even with the ATE calipers. I may try better pads. The ones that came on it throw almost no dust and have never squealed. Which is two huge pluses. Just do not grab like I prefer.

I have very good success with these low dust and xlt stopping power ceramic pads -
EBC Red Stuff
Akebono Euro

You may have to change out your rotors.
I do mine every time I change pads. Expensive, but worth maintaining performance and high pedal heights.
Also do a complete fluid bleed.
