The seals are made from silicone rubber and do not need sealant. You DO need to place a 3mm diameter, 12mm long bead of Loctite Ultra Grey 5699 RTV sealant lengthwise where the front chain cover meets the head both top and bottom, splitting it 6mm long on each side, taking care not to smear this bead as you move the cover around during installation. You should mate the cover no more than 20 minutes after laying the bead down.

David, I apologise for being somewhat slow, but is there a picture or diagram on this forum somewhere? I would hate to get this wrong after the nightmare getting these covers off has proven to be!

Am I putting the bead alongside the new gasket at the point where the cover narrows from the chain cover to the cam cover? On the outside of the new gasket? The inside?

Also, is this important, please? I ask because (as usual) I am unable to source this gasket maker here in Dubai and I will have to have it shipped in at further expense of both money and time?

Regards,
Ray

RTV sealant should be accessible just about any store that sells parts.

I cannot get MAF Spray, Throttle Body Cleaner, Dielectric Grease, Anti-Seize, etc. etc. here in Dubai - Have to import the lot!

David, When you say 'top & bottom' do you mean I put a bead at the join between Crankcase and the Cam Cover on both the Crankcase AND on the Cam Cover, please?
