Car cranks, starts, and dies a few seconds later

2008 X358 w/133K miles
Just hoping for a little advice on where to begin. I did have a P0101 and P0430 code but it is hard to tell if it is current or historical.
When driving home yesterday evening (car was running for about 90 minutes) driving down my subdivision I felt a little stutter each time I stopped at a stop sign (noticed it 3 times). When I turned onto my street the car died (all electronics working just fine just engine went off).
Since that time I have tried to start it about 8 more times each time starting up and within a second it dies. I removed the MAF sensor connector, same problem.
Any common things to consider? I plan on working more on it tomorrow. Thanks.

Sorry to ask something so rudimentary, but what was the fuel level in the tank when this happened?
A few X350s I service, and others reported on this forum, exhibit erratic or otherwise unreliable fuel level readings on the gauge when the fuel level is low - typically somewhere below 1/4 tank. I suspect it's a problem with the fuel level senders. Is it possible your car is simply out of gas?

Hi Sam,
Yes, quite a few members have had to replace their fuel pumps at 100K miles or more, so that is a definite possibility.
Just thinking out loud, it would be worth cleaning the MAFS and its electrical connector with MAFS cleaner spray.
Another possibility that comes to mind is that if the crankshaft position sensor (CKPS) has failed, the car might start briefly, with the ECM deriving its timing signal from the camshaft position sensors (CMPs), but when it transitions to the CKPS for its ongoing timing signal, it dies. I haven't checked the X350 engine management system (EMS) manual, but on the X300 and X308, the ECM refers to the CMP for to establish cylinder 1 top dead center (TDC) within less than one full revolution of the engine, then refers to the CKPS for ongoing timing.
Sorry if these are wild goose chases. Just trying to think of possible causes of your symptoms.

Seems that it's the season for this issue, so at the bottom I'll copy paste something I posted in a similar thread.
To add to what Don says, yours sounds like a fuel issue to me... and I believe most ECUs use the crankshaft position sensor to determine when to cut the fuel pump.
Also, to tie with your P0101 code, I think it is related to your incoming air. You said you HAD that code. Did you just recently erase it, or what happened to put it in past tense?
And now, the copy paste:

It might or might not change anything, but gives you some data points while trying to figure out if something in the intake air logic isn't right.
Also, not much experience with the X350 cam and crankshaft sensors, but in the Nissan world they could manifest in many different ways. Sometimes the car just won't start, or it takes longer to turn over at startup, or dies on the highway... then sometimes it's intermittent. Most times they throw codes, but sometimes not at all.

So strange. It sat for a week as I did not have time. I went to start it and it started rough gave it a good amount of gas and it settled down and ran fine. I drove it all day yesterday and it started without any issue (at least 6 times) and ran fine each time. It has to be something intermittent or something about to fail, just not sure what. No codes at this time.
