Default Car jack leaking-only 45 years old

Yes it was made in Taiwan!

Dismantled jack and removed O ring but did not have new one to fit.

I had 5 thou brass shim (it belonged to my late father) so I cut it to fit groove behind O ring.

No more leaks-hopefully good for another 45 years!

BTW
You may have read kalboon's post about fitting two layers of duct tape to

the piston on his air compressor which has solved the problem with a worn

piston seal so as a matter of interest I measured the thickness of duct

tape and waddya know it's 5 thou.

I don't think I am going to need Andy's seal kit.
