CD changer no communication

CD changer no communication
Hi. I just changed the head unit set (standard version, not the navigation version) of my 05 XJR due to a volume control problem and I've found that my CD changer doesn't seem to exist anymore. I'm unable to activate it or connect to it when pressing the CDC button. The set otherwise seems to work fine for the radio and single CD.
The changer was working previously with my old head unit. Is there any procedure that I need to do to get the replacement head unit to talk to the CD changer or is there something that I need to do to configure or activate the CDC?
Thanks.

Hi klfong,
Im afraid it could be costly, this sounds like you need a jaguar tech to "switch on" the optical lead which is quite expensive.
There are guys who have looked at the ACM (Audio Connectivity Module) and you can have it up graded too at a cost again.
It seems that if you disconnect the unit something happens to cancel it out.
It sounds silly but did you place both leads back on?
Good Luck and if you have no success, someone else will help or you can search the site for the ACM issues.
Also to point out, I am not sure of the specifics of your vehicle so I am unsure on how to advise.
Good Luck again though, i hope I have helped? Cheers, Stu

Thanks. I was wondering if it was something like that. If it's the standard Jaguar software computer, I think my indie should be able to do it for me, but he's got no experience with swopping out head units so he's not quite familiar about this aspect. I may have to work with him when he has the computer plugged in.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions or thoughts about this?

People on the X-Type forum were reporting the radio needs to be "activated" to look for CD changer. I think it requires the Jaguar diagnostic software, so your mileage with an indie shop may vary. Call your Jag dealers around ant try to bargain with them, it should not take them more than an hour time.
The alternative is to try and do it yourself, you can get a Chinese clone of the "Mongoose JLR" diagnostic tool which comes with the jag software for about $80. These are a bit flaky, but you don't need it to work for long.
If you decide to go that round I hope a tech on the forum can guide you trough the menus as it is not the most intuitive piece of software.

Just to update, the CD changer in the boot needs to be reassigned/linked to the head unit if you change the head unit. This is done using the Jaguar servicing/maintenance computer software system. My head unit now recognises the CD changer and I have my other CD's available to listen to again.

One more update, for some reason, when I managed to link my CD changer with the head unit, the AM/FM button on the radio stopped working and I couldn't switch from CD or CD changer to radio without first ejecting the CD that was in the single CD slot in the head unit. I had to re-activate the AM/FM button using the jaguar dealer maintenance software in order to have this button work again. The radio now works properly.
