cd changer problem
Hello, brand new 2005 xj van den plas owner. My beauty has only 38,000 miles on her, always garaged. Just bragging a little. My problem is that the 6 cd changer in the trunk (boot) does not respond. It doesn't show up on the touch screen and will not eject the 6 cd module when the button is pushed. I looked at the fuse box circuits, and the only one I see is nav/cd ...The single disk cd works in the cabin and the nav unit works so I am perplexed. Any ideas? Thank you in advance, happy to be on the forum.

Two possibilities...I think

I can think of 2 possibilities. First it hasn't been used for a long time and the mechanism is stuck. Try, if you haven't already, to use the eject button on the unit itself back in the trunk.
Second possibility is that the link from the CD player to the communication system that let's the radio unit "know" there is a CD player mounted has been broken or disconnected.
My wife's XJ8 didn't have a changer mounted so I had to get one from a salvage yard and the connecting cable from SNG Barratt I think. At any rate there's a thin cable coming from the back of the changer that runs under the trunk carpeting where it connects into a feed that goes through the car to one of the many modules. I'd have to go back to the electrical schematics to nail it down more specifically as it was more than 3 years ago when I did the install. Once I hooked it up the car did the rest.
Anyway, look for that connecting link and see if it's been damaged or somehow cam unplugged.
