Just bought a 2005 Jaguar XJ8L. In excellent condition, with one minor flaw. The radio works fine, with good sound. But when I insert a CD into the single disk CD player, it shows playing, but has no sound. If there a separate fuse for the CD player sound, or do I need to replace the CD section of the audio console. Fourth Jag going back to 1980 and only one I have had this problem with. Any help would be appreciated.

There looks be just the one fuse (radio heat unit) and given your radio is working it's probably not that.

Have you tried other discs and can you hear it spin up?
Do you know if you have the premium or audiophile sound system?
Prior to getting a new head unit it would be worth getting a dealer to check the codes.

 

Have you tried using a laser lens cleaner CD?
