Change of fluids on 10y car
Hi all,
My car, an XJ04, is nearly 10 years old and has been regularly serviced by the Jag dealer up to now (book full of stamps) but has not run many miles when I purchased it in June of this year (now about 48.000 km on the clock).
Runs great but...
I don't have the bills so dunno which of the fluid changes (aprt from the engine, in Feb this year at 44.000 km) have been made.
My question is which of the fluids should be changed for perfect handling: coolant, brakes, gearbox, etc.?

I am sure you will get a lot of opinions. My personal opinion is yes to all.
Coolant turns acidic over time, eventually leading to corrosion in the system. A change every couple years prevents this.
The tranny is supposed to be sealed for life. I don't buy that any fluid can last that long. Normally I will change mine every 40-60 k miles, so you are at a perfect time for your first change.
Brake fluid is often overlooked, but a change every few years prevents the buildup of moisture, which leads to corrosion of the calipers and other parts. So another good idea.
Other fluids you can check, just to make sure they are not dirty or contaminated are the power steering and rear differential. Your mileage is still too low to worry about changing these, but worth a look to make sure.
A few other items you could think about changing are the cabin air filter, the fuel filter, and the general condition of the engine belts and hoses.
These are good cars, and at your mileage you can expect a really good driver for a long time.
