Changes to 2012 XJ
Put aside the host of problems many of us have experienced, I'm curious what others, after having been in the new XJ's for a few months now, what would suggest/wish they would change on future models. My list (based on SC model):
1) Touch screen needs to be more visible in bright sunlight. Maybe angle it differently, or just use a better screen.
2) Center arm rest storage has no light. Impossible to see at night when you open it up, even when turning other lights on. This one is puzzling. Most all luxury cars have arm rest compartments with lights in them.
3) Rethink some of the chrome. Much more difficult to keep clean.
4) Rethink the seat adjustment controls. Difficult to get your hand down there between the seat and door.
5) Everytime you adjust the volume or fan, you lose what is on your screen while it shows you are adjusting. A bit annoying and needless delay. Why can't the screen remain the same when you make these changes or show both simultaneously.
6) Why not just illuminate the air vents like they do on the supersport.
7) Horn is a little on the "girly" side as far as the sound.
8) Trip computer does not keep track of your time. Why? It tracks your average speed, MPG, but not your time from start. Other cars do this, and it's very helpful to have that.
9) The cooling seat function takes a long time before you really start to feel it, and even then it's not anything special (XF kicks in much sooner and you feel it).
So, with these changes, they'll have a near perfect car....assuming of course they get the electrical, roof, and other issues resolved with these first year models.
