Default Chirping From Driver Rear Tire Area

Had my 2004 XJ8 into the shop for the passenger rear bearing to be replaced. When I picked up the car, I noticed a chirping coming from the driver rear tire. It was speed sensitive (slow chirp vs. fast chirp) and disappeared when braking.

Car went in and a break service was recommended. They also replaced rear pads (50% wear, but a crack was present). Chirp was gone for about 1 week but has now returned.

Again, it is speed sensitive, disappears when breaking, and disappears in the rain.

Any ideas???

Could be the dust shield rubbing against rotor look for a shinny spot on shield
or rotor.

After 2 days in the shop they finally were able to detect the chirping noise and then had a Master Tech looking at it trying to figure out what was going on.

Finally determined that it was the "hub cylinder". No idea what that is and I will get more info when I speak to the technician. I'm just happy that they were able to hear the sound and find the problem.

Not looking forward to convincing them that they need to refund my money from the Brake Service that they said would correct the problem. I'm not trying to nickel and dime them, but their incorrect assessment/recommendation cost me $500.00 and did nothing to solve the problem.

I got the same noise after replacing my pads and I still have it. I think its a pad getting hung up and squeaking from not moving back out when your not using the brakes. It hasn't annoyed me enough to pull everything apart yet, but I having a feeling I'm going to do it next week after the new tranny is in.
