Cleaning Fuel Pump Filters

Cleaning Fuel Pump Filters
I am in the process of re-assembling and reinstalling the two fuel pump modules for my 2003 xjr.
I need to clean the pump screen filters, something I've never done before.
There are two 'sock' type filters and one flat screen type filter for each pump, pictured below
So whats the best method/solution to clean them?
Carb cleaner and a tooth brush, bath them in petrol bath and a tooth brush/?
Any advice?

The sock-type filters I would wash in water with a regular dishcleaner, just like a real sock only more careful to not damage it.
Then rinse them very thoroughly to get all of the detergent out of the fabric and let them dry. That has helped me for other bag-like filters already, although not fuel related.
Flat one with the same cleaning mix, and a toothbrush sounds like a good idea.

I just cleaned a fuel pump sock filter on an '06 XJR by spraying it repeatedly with brake cleaner (2 cans with the red tubes installed) and allowing it to dry. Worked very well. The brake cleaner dries pretty quickly, and any residue will easily combust in the engine.

Don

So I cleaned out the various filters using both methods.
So firstly I cleaned the large (outside the bucket) and small (inside the bucket) fuel sock type filters with detergent and water, dried them off, still a bit dirty.
So then I blasted them with three cans of break cleaner as Don suggested. This shifted the tough dirt spots but some of it ended up inside the sock.
So then I swished them around in a small container of petrol, changing the petrol for clean stuff may be three times, and got quite a bit more dirt out/off them by doing this.
