Default Close Sunroof via FOB

Hello all.

I have a 2004 XJR and one of the things that bothers me is that when locking the car the sunroof does not automatically close. The mirrors turn in, the windows roll-up, but nada on the sunroof. Do the newer XJR models have this feature?

I have an 04 XJ8 and locking the car with the key fob doesn't close anything. I can open everything with it though. If using the key, it will close everything or open everything. I think a Jaguar dealer can program the key fob to close everything when the car is locked.

If I hold down the unlock button for a few seconds it will open all the windows and sunroof, but doing the same with the lock button will not close anything. I can close all buy holding the key in the door in the lock position.

Same here. It must need to be programmed at the dealer for $$$!

Can anyone confirm this can be programmed by the dealer?

Default No Dice.

At least at Mainline Jaguar near Philly, they said it wasn't possible. This is a misstep in the design. Keys and locks are primarily used to keep someone out. This lock allows you to open all the locks, windows, and the sunroof remotely, but the reverse is true for everything except the sun roof. The sunroof requires the key to be held in the locked position in the door.

This would be a sweet mod though, I wish I had the expertise to pull it off.

It works OK on my 2004. I can open and close everything by holding down the lock or unlock button for more than two seconds. That is as per the owners manual.

Key transmitter: Press and hold the lock button for longer than 2 seconds to close all the electrically operated windows and sunroof (if fitted in one shot operation).

Pressing any button again while global closing is taking place will stop all movement.

You can use the lock/unlock button on the center console in the same way.

Global close is available on the car but is market specific. That being said it can be activated for the US market by the dealer. I think mirror dip as well as seat belt chime are also programable options.
