Default Codes 0101, 0102, 0405, 0445, 0447 and 1000

My significant other brushed the brick wall at our driveway and clipped the right front fender with our 2004 XJ8. The body shop is done and it looks great but it is now throwing codes 0101, 0102, 0405, 0445, 0447 and 1000. It also shows restricted performance on the info panel and the check engine light is on. The battery had been sluggish so I replaced it and let the car sit without power for half an hour. The new battery is now connected and I am still getting the same codes. (I erased the first set of codes with a Actron OBD-II scanner). Where should I be looking for problems that would produce these codes?

Hi califjag,

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about the damage to your Jag. The codes you have read should each be preceded by a letter, such as P, C, B or U. These tell us whether the codes are related to the Powertrain, Chassis, etc. We can guess what those letters may be, but that may waste your time and ours. If your scanner can read those letters, you can look up each code in the X350 service manuals, which are available in the download section of this forum. Use the Find function of Adobe Reader to search for each code. Hold Cntrl or Cmd plus the letter F and the search window will appear. Type one of the diagnostic codes and press Enter. All the pages will be searched until the code is found. If the code is not found in that section of the manual, try the other sections until you find the code. Make a note of the information given for each code.

That information will help members of the forum to give you appropriate advice.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Graham and Don,
I will search the manual and see what I may be dealing with.

The P1000 should change to P1111 once the others are fixed (possibly before then).

The others are a list! If the battery's new AND been fully charged (don't rely on it coming that way) I'd be looking for harness / ground strap damage.

It turned out to be a wire that pinched and shorted during the accident. A fuse blew and led to the problems. Now everything seems to be back to normal. No more codes coming up and no restricted performance.

Thanks to all who responded.

Jim
