Default Coil conversion: Blackdog or Arnott

Arnott

https://www.arnottindustries.com/par...20_pid136.html

$1295 + $200 core for old bags

Blackdog

Black Dog Manufacturing - XJ8 Air Suspension Conversion Kit

$1695

Unless someone has a good reason to go with blackdog, I am leaning toward Arnott which I know from the land rover world. I am interested to see if anyone has any specs on the spring rates on either. My warranty is up in May, so if the bags make it through the winter, I plan to swap next fall.

I have an Arnott Suspension. The price, quality, warranty, and customer service/relations is beyond amazing. I vote Arnott. It is very simple to install. Unbeatable price.

Doesn't switching to a coil and strut suspension dramatically reduce ride quality? I read online these cars have independent front and rear control, and the body drops 15mm over 100 MPH. Not that many of us would ever go over 100... LOL... Coils can't do that. Anyone using these feel free to give me some input please.

Comparing the total cost, I would go with Arnott.

Black Dog: total cost: $1881.83

Arnott: total cost: $1532.64
(after $200 core deposit) $1332.64

You have $549.19 for additional upgrades!

Other than the fact that the air suspension is adaptive, and the coil-over conversion is not, the ride quality is still great. I have no complaints. I love my Arnott conversion.

IDK if any of you guys have seen this, but Arnott has a GREAT deal on the factory-like replacement bags / shocks for our cars. Price is UNREAL, and they appear as good if not better than factory. They also give a LIFETIME warranty!!! Here are the links for

FRONT:

New Jaguar XJ Arnott Front Air Ride Suspension Shocks Struts X350 X358 | eBay

And REAR:

New Jaguar XJ Arnott Rear Air Ride Suspension Shocks Struts X350 X358 | eBay

Total price (AFTER $200 core is refunded per set of four) is $1,750.00

IMHO;

These cars have an amaizing suspension, and downgrading to strut / coil conversion is a shame. You're looking at $1332 for the old style strut conversion, or $1750 for a complete lifetime factory setup. $400 extra in order to keep our cars OE. According to their website, they eliminated the "weak" points of the factory air ride. This is a great deal.. No I don't work for, nor represent Arnott in any way. Just trying to contribute my research to this thread.

Instead of eBay, here is their direct site:

https://www.arnottindustries.com/par...20_pid136.html

Scroll down to the bottom.. However, eBay comes with FREE shipping, it appears their website has a shipping fee depending on ZIP code...

I have the black dog kit, I can't tell you the specs but I am very pleased with the kit on my super V8. I've had it since early this year have had no complaints about ride quality. it isn't too soft and spongy as the arnot kit has had complaints about and it isnt overly firm. I honestly feel its a happy medium between the two. when I was comparing the two I found on a site that the arnot went to black dog and used their system to fix the overly soft ride quality but its sold under the arnot name. looking at the two you can't tell the difference from the two.

I went with the Arnott front Air-shock upgrade, to keep the OEM suspension. Followed the installation instructions and all is well.
I actually think the ride is a little on the hard side, maybe the tires?
I was planning on installing air-pressure gauges on top of the shocks, but until I get a fault-I will hold off on that project.

Arnott has had some problems but the way they have stepped up to the plate, they have my vote.

now as far as coil verses air bag, My kitty will stay as Jag designed her and I will go for Arnott's air shocks when the time comes.
